Post Adjust Bond Show (1/4/12) 01/04/2012
_Post Adjust Bond Show (1/4/12) HSX has changed over the years and so has Hollywood and the way it does things. Starbond adjusts used to very simple to figure out. A star made a movie and then moved on to their next film. Film #1 would get released then Film #2 would get released and everybody was happy. Things have changed drastically the last couple of years. The Weinstein Company has built a reputation for acquiring movies and constantly rescheduling their release dates, pushing movies back and finally just leaving them in limbo without any release. This has now become a factor in estimating what project a starbond might adjust for next. Technology is a lot more accessible nowadays which means smaller movies can be made a lot faster and be completed before the public ever hears about them. Big name directors have started making little side projects in between shooting scenes of their big movies. Performers can now film whole indie movies in the weeks off between shooting their big projects. Actors are now reserving and lining up multiple projects at a time (like James Franco and Leonardo DiCaprio). The change in economy has left starbonds with multiple wrapped projects but no scheduled release dates. Movie studios are now becoming more cautious about larger budgets and a failure of one large movie in a genre can have an effect of the rest of the movies planned to be made in that genre. There have been some recent cancellations and near cancellations of projects just weeks or months before filming was scheduled. The Hollywood world is getting a little crazy nowadays. The Post Adjust Bond Show began a few years ago as a conversation between a group of friends in a chat room about what a starbond might do next after it adjusted. We would compare notes and theories and have cool conversations. Time moved on and many of the friends got busy in real life (getting married, having kids, work, health issues, etc) and not everybody in the group could keep up with the daily news and stay in the loop. The friends that stayed consistent kept having the weekly conversations and we would send a log of the chat in email form to the friends that couldn't make it that week. I had already started and had been running The HSX Dude for a few months when I finally realized that the email we were sending to our friends every week might be helpful or useful to all HSX Players. I altered some of the wording and set up a template and now you have the weekly Post Adjust Bond Show. To Weinstein, or not to Weinstein, (sometimes) that is the question when it comes to estimating a starbond's next adjust (especially when they have several wrapped projects to choose from). Today we will see that the way Weinstein handles their releases really makes HSX a more complicated game. There are other places and other people who offer starbond adjust help and you should take advantage of whatever tools are made available to you. The Post Adjust Bond Show is still the same thing that it started out as a few years ago... a message to my friends to help them figure what today's adjusting starbonds might do next. _ Antonio Banderas (ABAND) ABAND's next adjust on 2/13/12 will drop Shrek the Third ($250) and add Haywire (currently trading at $27.71). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 44.46 points. _ Abigail Breslin (ABRES) ABRES just signed on for 'Ender's Game' which is planning a March 2013 release. Perfect Sisters is currently in post production and will likely release and delist before Ender's Game. ABRES's next adjust does not have a release date set, but will drop Kit Kittredge: An American Girl ($17,655,201) and most likely add Perfect Sisters (currently trading at $4.55). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 2.62 points. Ari Graynor (AGRAY) AGRAY has three wrapped projects with no release dates set. There is no way to tell at this point which of those three movies she will adjust for next. She will be dropping Youth in Revolt ($15,281,286) so at current prices, her next adjust would go down 1.89 points (or more). Alexander Payne (ALPAY) Technically, ALPAY has no upcoming projects listed. Downsizing was put on the back burner due to budget issues and the director moved on. (link) Nebraska was a dead delisted stock that was recently re-IPOed after ALPAY started talking about working on the project again. In October 2011, the studio told ALPAY that the only way he could move forward with that project was to have major budget cuts and a big name star. (link) There has been no news since then (about 3 months), even though ALPAY was supposed to be aggressively casting for the project in November. Bill Nighy (BNIGH) BNIGH's next adjust on 4/23/12 will drop Wild Target ($117,190) and add Wrath of the Titans (currently trading at $112.42). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 22.46 points. _ Cary Elwes (CELWE) CELWE has one wrapped project and one project that is heading towards production. They need to make a movie about the behind the scene antics that happened while filming Little Murder. It would be more interesting than the movie itself. Location scout was robbed by shotgun wielding teens. Performers, crew and services have filed complaints that the production never paid them for their work on the movie. Lawsuits... (link1)(link2)(link3) Did I mention that the last movie the director of Little Murder made was the 2002 straight to video 'Hard Cash' starring Christian Slater and Val Kilmer? (link) Little Murder premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival in January 2011 and there has been no news since then (1 year). CELWE's next adjust does not have a release date, but will drop A Christmas Carol ($137,850,096) and most likely add Elvis & Nixon (currently trading at $12.44). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 25.08 points. Cam Gigandet (CGIGA) Five Star Day is not reporting box office. There were various reports in the past about Kerosine Cowboys . Co-star Shane West gave an interview a year (or so) ago where he stated that the project had run out of money three days before they were able to finish filming. He claimed that the most important scene of the movie was not filmed. Kerosine Cowboys was sold to another company who somehow edited footage and completed the project under the name 'Red Sky'. The film was shown on the festival circuit last year but there has been no news since then. CGIGA's next adjust does not have a release date, but will drop Easy A ($58,401,464) and most likely add Free Ride (currently trading at $5.84). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 10.51 points. _ Carla Gugino (CGUGI) CGUGI's next adjust on 2/27/12 will drop Elektra Luxx ($10,822) and add I Melt with You (currently trading at $0.05). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 0.01 points. Chloe Moretz (CMORE) CMORE's next adjust on 5/7/12 will drop Diary of a Wimpy Kid ($64,001,297) and add Movie 43 (currently trading at $39.16). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 4.97 points. Carrie-Anne Moss (CMOSS) CMOSS's next adjust does not have a release date, but will drop Mini's First Time ($48,913) and most likely add Silent Hill 2: Revelations (currently trading at $12.37). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 2.46 points. David Gordon Green (DGGRE) DGGRE's next adjust does not have a release date, but will drop Undertow ($124,171) and most likely add Suspiria (currently trading at $0.09). At current prices, their next adjust would go ... let's face it, a remake of Suspiria is going to end up making more than $0.09 and more than $124.171 Ed Westwick (EDWES) EDWES's next adjust does not have a release date, but will most likely add Romeo and Juliet (currently trading at $8.54). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 1.07 points. Emily Watson (EWATS) EWATS's next adjust on 1/16/12 will drop Miss Potter ($2,975,649) and add War Horse (currently trading at $71.12). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 13.62 points. Felicity Jones (FJONE) FJONE's next adjust on 1/16/12 will add Like Crazy (currently trading at $3.40). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 0.21 points. Garry Marshall (GAMAR) Technically, GAMAR has no upcoming projects listed. State Of The Union was announced in September 2009 with most of the cast already attached. Jessica Biel was added to the cast in March 2010 and there has been no news since then (almost 2 years). George Clooney (GCLOO) GCLOO's next adjust on 12/17/12 will drop Fantastic Mr. Fox ($20,999,103) and add Gravity (currently trading at $50.30). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 39.04 points. Hilary Swank (HSWAN) HSWAN has three projects in development with no release dates set. It would be best to wait until more information is available before investing in HSWAN's next adjust. Jessica Biel (JBIEL) JBIEL's next adjust on 4/2/12 will drop Easy Virtue ($2,656,324) and add Playing the Field (currently trading at $17.62). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 2.99 points. Jessica Chastain (JCHAS) JCHAS's next adjust on 4/9/12 will drop The Tree of Life ($13,303,319) and add Coriolanus (currently trading at $3.94). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 1.87 points. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (JDMOR) Weinsteins! JDMOR has four wrapped projects with no release dates and The Possession scheduled to open on 8/31/12. I believe that The Possession will end up being his next adjust because his other four wrapped projects have all been sitting around for a while. Days Of Wrath released its trailer in early 2008 (link) and there has been no news since then (almost 4 years). Shanghai is a Weinstein film (who are known to change release dates, push movies back, and keep movies on the shelf). Shanghai was originally scheduled for a 2008 Christmas release (link) but was pushed back several times and received several release date changes until Weinstein finally just took it off the schedule... and it has never returned. The Courier filmed early last year and released a few stills in May 2011... and nothing has been heard from the movie since then (7 months). Peace, Love And Understanding was just picked up by IFC in the beginning of Decemeber 2011. IFC would have to release this film before June in order for it to delist first and be his next adjust. This does not seem likely. JDMOR's next adjust on 9/24/12, will drop Kabluey ($83,398) and add The Possession (currently trading at $15.65). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 3.11 points. Josh Duhamel (JDUHA) JDUHA's next adjust on 5/7/12 will drop Ramona and Beezus ($26,161,406) and add Movie 43 (currently trading at $39.16). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 3.20 points. Jonah Hill (JHILL) JHILL's next adjust on 4/9/12 will drop Get Him to the Greek ($60,923,325) and add 21 Jump Street (currently trading at $60.02). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 0.18 points. Julia Roberts (JROBE) JROBE's next adjust on 4/9/12 will drop Duplicity ($40,559,930) and add Mirror Mirror (currently trading at $65.06). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 4.90 points. Katherine Heigl (KHEIG) KHEIG's next adjust on 2/20/12 will drop 27 Dresses ($76,806,312) and add One for the Money (currently trading at $25.08). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 10.34 points. Lea Michele (LMICH) LMICH's next adjust does not have a release date, but will most likely add Dorothy of Oz (currently trading at $28.36). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 9.45 points. Ludacris Chris Bridges (LUDAC) Technically, LUDAC has no upcoming projects listed. Ball Don't Lie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2008 (almost four years ago) and is likely to be dead delisted soon by HSX. Matthew Lillard (MLILL) MLILL's next adjust on 1/16/12 will drop Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed ($84,185,387) and add All's Faire in Love (currently trading at $0.02). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 16.83 points. Michelle Pfeiffer (MPFEI) MPFEI's next adjust on 6/4/12 will drop Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas ($26,288,320) and add Dark Shadows (currently trading at $121.92). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 2.90 points. Nicole Kidman (NKIDM) NKIDM has two projects that should be switching to Wrap phase soon. It is difficult to gauge which one could be released first. The Paperboy looks like it will be a wide release while Stoker looks like it will be a limited release. NKIDM will be dropping Australia ($49,551,662) for her next adjust and both of her upcoming projects are priced below this amount indicating that her next adjust is likely to adjust downwards. Robert De Niro (RDENI) RDENI's next adjust on 3/5/12 will drop Stone ($1,806,383) and add Corman's World (currently trading at $0.62). At current prices, their next adjust would go down 0.23 points. SJPAR's next adjust does not have a release date, but will drop Spinning into Butter ($5,534) and most likely add Escape from Planet Earth (currently trading at $17.74). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 3.55 points. Sam Rockwell (SROCK) Weinsteins! SROCK has two projects that should be wrapped very soon with no release dates set. They both just finished shooting but one movie is Weinstein (which is famous for delaying releases, changing release dates, and letting projects just sit on the shelf for long periods before release). SROCK's next adjust does not have a release date, but will drop Everybody's Fine ($8,855,646) and most likely add Seven Psychopaths (currently trading at $24.67). At current prices, their next adjust would go up 3.16 points. Sofia Vergara (SVERG) SVERG's next adjust on 5/7/12 will drop Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns ($41,939,392) and add The Three Stooges (currently trading at $21.35).
